This 3-hour practical pool training workshop will coach students how to hold the breath comfortably and safely for better life and ocean experiences. Using proven breathwork and relaxation techniques, this pool-based masterclass for certified freedivers is ideal for beginners through to advanced levels, especially for returning students who wish to take a refresher. The session builds upon the PADI Freediver eLearning theory to open up the journey into freediving, whether you're new to freediving, had no experience at all, or are a an experienced snorkeller, skindiver or freediver.
Led by PADI Freediving Instructor Trainer, Marlon Quinn, this masterclass will introduce you to breathing and relaxation techniques specifically used for developing and enhancing your breathhold to not only enjoy the underwater world simply and easily, but provide tools that equally apply to finding the peace and calm in every day life, all through the power of your breath.

Safety Requirement:
Before attending this workshop, please ensure that you have:
- Completed at least your PADI Basic Freediver level or equivalent (eg SSI Basic Freediver, Molchanovs Wave 1, AIDA 1*, and
- Can supply a copy of your existing freediving certification, and
- Completed and provided your health questionnaire and waiver
In this workshop you’ll benefit from becoming calmer, better connected with your body, and understand your inner mind and how you can use breathwork to identify and release tension in the body for more enjoyable ocean and life experiences.
Whether you're a seasoned skindiver, a weekend snorkeller, or experienced freediver who has completed at least their first freediving certification, or are keen to refresh your skills as as returning freediving student you will enhance the state of your body and mind with breath-based tools to be more relaxed holding your breath and develop the skills to strengthen your pathway to relaxation.
The workshop covers:
- Discussion about previous experiences and goals for the session
- Practicing breathing techniques for relaxation and to reduce stress
- Breathing techniques to hold your breath longer
- Static apnea (motionless breath-hold) on the pool surface
- Dynamic apnea (swimming drills) on breath-hold
- Personalised coaching to talk about your personal 'map of the breathhold' and sensations
- Performance of recovery breathing techniques
- Rescue and safety training
What to bring:
- Wetsuit (Full body 3mm-5mm recommended)
- Mask & snorkel, fins, weightbelt

Structured Workshop:
Led by your friendly expert coach, this 3-hour workshop includes warm-up exercises, practical breath-hold training and tailored instruction for repetitive breathhold drills. Followed by safety and rescue practice and discussion of lesson outcomes and continued learning opportunities.
Small Classes:
The Masterclass workshops have a maximum of 8 participants per session to ensure you get plenty of time with your coach to maximise your development. Consider 1-on-1 private lessons if you prefer.
Training Outcomes:
At the end of the session you will have learned specialised breath-hold skills, relaxation techniques, and performed multiple static (motionless) and dynamic (swimming) sequences comfortably, that will bring you closer to peace and calm in the water. Participants who successfully perform the criteria of the PADI Basic Freediver course requirements can choose to be certified and be issued with an e-certification from PADI.

- Session fees are non-refundable (unless the session is cancelled by us for unforeseen circumstances), please choose your experience with care. Trip insurance is highly recommended as cover for unforeseen cancellations
- Courses are held near Melbourne in Rosebud, VIC
- Directions to YAWA Aquatic Centre, Rosebud
- All Students must be minimum 14 years of age
- Please arrive at the venue 10 minutes before commencement time to ensure you have enough time to check in and get settled
- Please dress comfortably
- Please bring a bag with your swimmers, wetsuit, mask, snorkel, fins and weightbelt, a towel and your own re-usable water bottle
- Guests must be able to swim. Courses do not cater for people with no swimming ability. The Instructor retains the right to refuse participation in which case your attendance is forfeited
- Guests with back, neck, or heart conditions, those who are pregnant or who have injuries/conditions that may cause a risk to their health are advised not to participate, or do so at their own risk
- A medical statement must be submitted to attend the course
- All participants under the age of 18 years must have a parent/guardian sign all applicable waiver/medical forms
- Subject to minimum numbers and may be rescheduled if minimum numbers are not met
